‘Twisted’ Recap:
Regina is still a very dead girl, and Danny is still a very suspicious figure in his hometown, but no one knows whodunnit! On the June 25 episode of Twisted, the pieces started coming together for several characters, but nothing was really resolved enough for the viewers to come to any conclusions. But hey, we’re only through with the third episode; there’s so much more drama to be had!
The Necklace Mystery Is Beginning To Come Together, For Some
In the first episode, the red and gold necklace was the only thing missing from the scene of Regina’s death, and although Danny denied killing her, he was found to be in possession of the necklace at the end of the hour.
In the second episode, the necklace came into play again when the Mastersons went to the Desais’ for dinner, and Jo’s mom Tess (Kimberly Quinn) noticed a picture had mysteriously disappeared since their meal began — a picture not only including Danny’s aunt, but the necklace as well!
Sidenote: who thought it was a good idea to have the city police chief go hang out at the house of the suspect he’s trying to find guilty in trial? Oh yeah, Jo (Maddie Hasson) did! Talk about something that comes back to bite you. Way to go, Jo.
Double sidenote: I actually really love Jo and her character — not to mention, her hair. How does she get it to always spring into those perfectly adorable curls, especially when everyone is accusing her friend of being a sociopath?!
Despite her perfect hair and loyalty to Danny, Jo’s dad is still out to find Danny guilty, and he hated every waking minute they had to spend together. Meanwhile, Sheriff Masterson (Sam Robards) looked deeper into the mystery behind the necklace in this episode, and he’s starting to believe he has a strong lead on the case.
Danny Is Working On Redeeming Himself — While Still Hiding Something
After getting into a lunchroom brawl with Lacey’s totally hormonal boyfriend, Archie (Grey Damon), on the second episode, Danny made it clear to Archie that he wants to make amends; too bad Archie denied his offer. He told Danny, “You’re never going to fit in, and you might as well accept that.”
It makes me feel for the poor guy, who really does seem like he wants to start anew and put the past behind him. I suppose it can be a little hard when your past includes a murder you committed, but I do think people need to cut him some slack.
That is, until he starts acting all sketchy! After Sheriff Masterson paid a visit to Danny’s house asking about the missing picture, Danny’s mom Karen (Denise Richards) confronted Danny about whether or not he moved it. I think she’s onto this whole necklace mystery, too!
Danny claimed he didn’t do it, but boy, “I didn’t move it” came out of his mouth so quickly, even a girl like me — who is firmly on Team Danny — finds him hard to trust on this one.
Jo Goes From ‘High-School Nobody’ To ‘Center Of Attention’
After making herself known as Danny’s advocate in the first episode, Jo has definitely been more of a somebody than she used to be at her school — though not necessarily to her benefit. And when she tried to do something for herself by taking on the lead role in a PSA advocating sobriety, it made her even more of a spectacle than she could have ever imagined!
Jo was supposed to film a video about the dangers of binge drinking after the play was done, but Regina’s bitter widow-friend Sarita (Jamila Velasquez) took matters into her own hands and made it into “humiliate Jo” time, playing a video of Jo getting drunk at Regina’s party the night Regina was killed, deeming Jo as a loser.
Although Jo ran out of the auditorium in frantic humiliation, she told her best friend Rico (Ashton Moio) that she’s actually glad Sarita did that to her; now feels like she has nothing to hide. I say, ‘You go, girl!’
A New Potential Murderer Comes Into Play?
In the middle of the episode, there was a moment in Jo and Rico’s chemistry class that seemed pretty random — until the two made a connection to that random moment near the end of the episode. Some girl named Jenny asked to switch lab partners because Scott (Todd Julian) didn’t call her after saying he would. You know, the typical drama girls deal with… but don’t usually announce to their chemistry classes.
Scott was completely caught off guard in class, and tried to defend himself by saying, “We hung out once!”
It all seemed pretty random, until Rico mentioned that Jenny, his new lab partner as a result of the switch, said she and Scott hooked up at Regina’s party, which was a different time than the instance Scott was referring to. This gave Rico and Jo a new idea of someone that might have been involved with Regina’s murder: Did Scott have something to do with it?
See what I mean by a lot of unanswered questions? The preview for the July 2 episode made it sound like a lot of these unresolved mysteries will start coming together, so be sure to tune in to see if any puzzle pieces come together!
