Demi Lovato Releases ‘Made in the USA’ Video

Demi’s new video is quite the change-up from her previous releases. Unlike “Heart Attack,” this video has a country, All-American vibe we can’t get enough of. And “Made in the USA” isn’t too much of a stretch, since Demi is a Texas native.

In the video, Demi tells the tale of two young lovers who meet at a carnival, fall in love, and endure the pains of separation when one is sent off to war. You see the couple’s love story unfold as they watch the sun set and get sexy in the bathtub. You can feel the longing between the two as he stares at her picture while on duty abroad as she writes him love letters.

The video stars 90210 actor Dustin Milligan and Friday Night Lights actress Aimee Teegarden.

“Made in the USA” marks Demi’s directorial debut. We think she did an amazing job and we hope to see more videos directed by Demi. This video is definitely one of our all-time favorites from her.

During an audition session on the USC campus in Los Angeles, Calif., Demi let loose on Justin, according to TMZ.

It all reportedly started when Demi gave her opinion on a 22-year-old wannabe Bieber who had a bad attitude. “We don’t need another little punk running the streets,” Demi quipped, TMZ reports.

And she didn’t stop there. Her Justin-centric disses got even clearer after another hopeful contestant sang a rendition of Justin’s “As Long As You Love Me.” Demi loved the performance and reportedly said, “Well finally someone can sing the song the way it was meant to be sung.”

So harsh, Demi!

Since overcoming her past struggles, Demi seems to have become an elder stateswoman in the pop music world. She hasn’t been afraid to speak her mind on other stars before (ahem, Taylor Swift), and she’s also proven in the past that she’s on Selena Gomez’s side in her relationship with Justin. Perhaps her comments were made in disgust that Selena had taken Justin back yet again.

We’ll also point out that July 10 was the day that video of Justin peeing in a kitchen bucket hit the internet. If there’s anything that can leave a bad taste in your mouth, it’s that video, so that may have been a factor as well.

Demi Lovato has gone through some tough times in recent years — between going to rehab in 2010, and the death of her father in 2013, Demi has endured her fair share of heartaches. I like to surround myself with people who understand where I am in my life and that have my best interests at heart. I feel like, especially with Nick, I feel like I can call him when I’m really struggling or whatever, and he’ll be there for me. It’s a really good feeling to have a friend like that.

It so nice that Nick is such a rock for Demi! They have been close pals since they first starred in Camp Rock together, and Demi even dated his brother Joe! This is not the first time that Demi has spoken about how Nick and Selena have helped her.

Demi Lovato wants to let her fans know that she’s doing okay. The 20-year-old has been posting messages nonstop to her Twitter followers since her father Patrick Lovato‘s death. But on June 29 Demi tweeted her most emotional message yet.

The singer wanted to tell her over 15 million Twitter followers exactly how she was feeling afer her dad was laid to rest. Although she admits that it’s been an incredibly tough time, she says she feels at “peace.”

“There’s an overwhelming sense of peace knowing my dad is no longer battling his demons anymore,” she tweeted. “And that makes me so happy.”

The singer had admitted that she and her dad hadn’t spoken in years but she did say on GMA on June 27 that “he’s still my dad.”

Demi’s dad died at the age of 54 on June 23 and he was laid to rest six days later. Demi also wrote this message: “Today I put my Daddy to rest … hardest thing I’ve ever done. But I know great things will come of this. LovatoTreatmentScholarship.”

Even before Barney, I was suicidal. I was seven. With Barney, I guess subliminally, I did have a relationship with this figure that was saving my life in a way… I’ve talked about being bullied and the years of being a teenager, but I went through things when I was younger that I’ve never talked about that probably caused me to turn out the way I ended up turning out,” she says.

Lovato touches upon her history of bulimia and claims: “I’m not super religious, but I grew up Christian and I believe in God. When I’m in L.A., I don’t talk about it that much because people are very judgmental, but I just feel like God gave me a voice, not just to sing with. He put me through those things, which seemed horrible at the time, but they were so worth it. With the obstacles I’ve overcome, I can help people.”

In the video, Demi, 20, explains that she decided to be a co-director because she had a very clear vision of what she wanted her video to look like.

Demi said its about a couple “who meet at a carnival, and they fall head over heels in love.”

And it is adorable! The video stars Friday Night Lights actress Aimee Teegarden and 90210 hunk Dustin Milligan (remember they kissed in 90210 season one?!) as the young couple who fall in love at the fair and have a passionate romance.

However, their love may be compromised because at one point Dustin is clearly wearing an army uniform, which makes me think he is sent away to war — just like in Greenday‘s video for “Wake Me Up When September Ends.”

Demi’s hardcore fans will love the video, because the pop princess will make an appearance in it! She sings and plays guitar at the carnival where the couple meet.

Demi Lovato: I Loved My Dad Even Though Relationship Was ‘Difficult’

Demi Lovato and her father, Patrick Lovato, 53, were not on speaking terms when he died suddenly on June 23 — they hadn’t been in nearly half a decade. “But at the end of the day he’s still my dad,” Demi sweetly said on Good Morning America on June 27. In the new interview the 20-year-old singer explained her complicated relationship with her father, how she’s handling his sudden death, and the amazing lengths she’s going to to remember him.

“I’m handling it okay,” Demi told Robin Roberts on Good Morning America. “My father and I didn’t have the most ideal relationship but at the end of the day he’s still my dad.”

Demi and her father had been estranged for nearly five years, the singer revealed in an interview with New York Daily News. Like her, Patrick was also struggling with mental health and addiction problems, and Demi revealed that she cut off communication with him after he “let her down” over and over again.

“It’s difficult,” Demi continued. “I grew up with him and he’s a wonderful person, but I’m handling it okay.”
